babette DONE

babette

The last time I posted about Babette was in April when I had finished all the sections. Now almost 3 months later, I finally have the border added and it is done! I was still using the blanket unfinished anyway so that's probably why it took me so long to finish.

The border is one row of chocolate and two of rouge. I kind of liked the unfinished look a bit better, no clue why. But, it's done and I can cross it off my WIP list.

Some info you might want to know about Babette:
I used a size 5.5 hook, the pattern calls for a size 3.5 but I wanted a big and drapey blanket so I went for a bigger hook.

I used Loops & Threads Impeccable Solids yarn in chocolate, true gray, aqua, butterscotch, rouge, white, pumpkin, soft taupe, soft fern, lavender, grass, grape, and soft rose.

To join all the squares, I slip stitched them together using white yarn, you can see a photo of that in this post.

The Babette pattern can be purchased here from Interweave.

I love my babette, I'm so glad that I decided to take on this pattern this year! I have plans for more babette goodness soon too!

  5. Casey,
I remember when this pattern was in the Interweave magazine. In fact, I still have the issue. I put it aside because I thought this was an afghan I'd make ... especially if I could use my stash!!!! Yours is just wonderful and is making my fingers itch! :D :D

  18. So pretty! It reminds me a little bit of argyle (those diagonals in the large squares), and a lot of a painting. A really beautiful painting.

I can see why this is your favorite!
