dead fish cat toy

A few months ago, we got a kitten to add to our family. We named him George, he's an adorable almost five month old orange kitty with a crap ton of energy! He tires us out long before he tires out. I call him our gentle, vicious kitty, he never claws but he will rip you up with his teeth. We love him though.

the newest addition George

I decided I should make George a toy, so I made him one with a rattle and catnip inside. I found this cute Skelly Fish toy but since I don't have the book, I just crocheted him from looking at the picture. I think it turned out super cute!

I'm planning on crocheting more for George in the future. I started working on this Nest pattern using a few colors of yarn held together. I will probably be starting over though, I'm not loving how it's looking right now. He needs a bed soon though, he finally trashed the box he's been sleeping in since he came home. He still loves sleeping in it but it's not nice to look at!

I hope you're all having a great Tuesday!

He is a very pretty kitty! I really like the color of the variegated yarn you used for the toy.

we ended up adoption two kitties at the same time early in the summer - best idea ever!! they totally tired each other out when you've run out of time/energy to keep playing at their level/speed!

I've thought about possibly getting another kitten but I don't think we could handle it right now! It would be nice to have someone to help tire him out though.
Thanks! I've found quite a few toys to crochet for cats, I hope I actually get to them all!
George is a little sweetie - we had two ginger toms many years ago and they were full of character. The cat is toy is adorable, well done you.

I made the nest already, but I'm struggling with it. It keeps collapsing. If you would have an idea, please let me know. I was already planning on leaving the top of... a pity, no?
I do enjoy your cat toy. I might give it a try as well.

A smaller hook would help make the nest stiffer so it doesn't collapse. I'm using 4 worsted weight hooks with a size 10mm hook, I think it should be sturdy. It's definitely tough crocheting!

Casey, congratulations on adopting George! He is a handsome ginger boy, & you can see why ginger kitties have such a loyal following. Once you have had one (or more!) you can't help but love the ginger personality. They are incredibly mellow (well, once you get past the manic kitten phase.....), loyal, intelligent, & easy going around just about everyone. My ginger boy Jasper lived to just before his 18th birthday, & had feline diabetes the last 10 yrs. of his life. He was the most amazing cat I have even had or ever known. I am so happy for you & your family that you have such a wonderful new addition! I think it's neat that you are going to crochet things for him; I can't wait to see photos as you post them.
I enjoy your blog very much; thank you for sharing your patterns with us. Happy Crocheting, Lisa

Thank you so much! I've never had a ginger kitty before George, I've had lots of different kinds, my last was a calico, she's almost 15 and living her fat, happy life with my mom :) I have been hearing a lot that ginger cats are very rambunctious, he's definitely proving to be so far. I have to say, I'm pretty excited for him to mellow out, we've still got a ways to go though!
Very nice article, especially the cat pix.
This is actually clever. Simple and brilliant. Thanks for sharing.
