no more mood blanket

In the first week of this month, I decided I was done with my mood blanket. It's unfinished and will stay that way for awhile.

no more mood blanket

I really loved crocheting this square though! It's called the "Not in the Middle" Granny, I love the look of it. I really need to plan out another project using it in the future!

The reason I decided to be done with my mood blanket is that it was just depressing me to make those squares to match my moods. When I started, I thought I would really like seeing my moods every day and I thought it might be nice to see how I might change during the year. There weren't too many "bad days" in there but honestly, some of those "tired" and "meh" days could easily have been bad days, I didn't really want to admit that and put it out there.

I feel better already putting this aside though. I do still love seeing everyone else's mood blankets, so I won't stop eyeing those up!

I LOVE the square you chose. And the reason you decided to stop was exactly the reason I didn't start a mood blanket . . . I love the idea behind it, but I worried that I'd just be depressed when I saw a visual representation of how many 'tired' or 'grumpy' or 'stressed' days I had! Definitely fun to watch everyone's progress though :-)
Love the blanket, but totally understand why you are stopping. I was thinking that even with the weather blankets I've seen (row a day) and how dark and depressing mine would be in winter. Ugh!
I didn't choose to do mood colors for this exact reason, but colors that I like each day! So you can always pick it back up without the mood part!
I am making to mood blanket, but it's more of a 'what colour looks pretty today" kind of blanket. I figured if I associated certain colours with sad, angry or grumpy, I wouldn't like my blanket. So my mood will still determine what colour I think is pretty that day, but there are no "sad" colours :) I hope you can find something to do with these squares because they are gorgeous!
Maybe you could change this into a weather blanket - I love the look to those scarves people make with the same idea! Best of luck
Oh no!! I'm sorry to hear that :(

I think that when we sit down to crochet, we need that time to relax away the stressors of the day. When you were making the squares, the whole day was coming down on you and probably it was not your cheeriest moment of the day. I'm sure you were not crocheting when you were having a good laugh or enjoying a conversation with a friend or satisfied that you had done a good job at something.

Don't let a blanket drag you down. You can download the average daily temperature for where you live and assign a color to each 10 degree range. Make a scarf, make a blanket, but don't make yourself upset.
I understand exactly where you are coming from! I was doing a stripe a week on a ripple blanket & I'm 3 weeks behind and haven't really been keeping up with it. Although I didn't assign moods I was letting the color that stood out to me that particular day be my mood color and then trying to keep track how I felt but I have too much going on right now so I'm behind & I'm not sure I would like to see my "moods" at the end of it. I plan on finishing it in a pattern which should work because I haven't repeated any colors so far.

I love your blocks and I definitely want to try them :)
Your blocks are really lovely, don't worry about stopping for now you can always pick it back up when you are in "the mood" - I think that it looks really good so far.
I noticed, from the start of your project, that many of your mood colours were "negative" compared to the smaller number of "positive". I really understand that sometimes it is like that, sometimes the best part if the day is the least-bad bit.

But do you think it might work for you do some squares like "had a good moment", "spent a little time doing something fun".

Maybe not, but I sometimes find it helps to focus on the tiny speck of "less-crapness", to have some reason to try and find a good bit of your day out if all the other stuff.
I don't think I could make a mood blanket. Too subjective. I'm currently working on a weather afghan with one block per month. Rather than depressing, it's actually rather fun to look back and see the one day where the temps didn't even make it to -10°F. Or the 8 days at the end of Jan / beg of Feb where I took a trip to FL (I used the temps there).
Sometimes you just have to roll with it. Sad to see it go but I'm glad that you are pushing yourself to do something you not feeling right now. And you might pick it up again in the future. :)
