flower bookmark

flower bookmark

I made myself a super simple crochet bookmark using this pattern from Lulu Loves. I used Bernat Handicrafter cotton in lavalamp for this one and a size 3.75mm hook. I made the chain at the end a little longer so that it would hang out of my books a little more.

I took the picture using the latest book I've read, I'm having a hard time picking a new one to read. The last book I read was Divergent, it was a good book but I didn't go running out for the second, I'm going to wait on paperback. This book was no Hunger Games!

Have you read any good books lately? I love some reccomendations!

  1. Love it! I haven't read anything extraordinary lately either . . . I've taken to just checking out a bunch of books at the library & hoping one of them turns out to be great. : )

  5. Let's see. I've read Divergent but also have not rushed out to get Insurgent. I do read a lot. And a lot of YA so here is a list of the books I loved. Some are older, some newer and since I don't know what you like exactly I'll try to give you a variety.
    In no particular order:
Anything and Everything by Melina Marchetta. She is Australian, my absolute favs are Finnikin of the Rock/Froi of the Exiles (series) third book coming. These are Epic, long, and REAL, meaning that there is some difficult stuff. BUT oh so amazing. Also, Jellicoe Road. I think epic is the best word for her stories. If you read this, promise me (and make a pact with yourself before you start) that you will FINISH the book. No matter how confused you "think" you are. It IS AMAZING!
All of her books are really good though.
North of Beautiful by Justine Chen Headley
Scrambled Eggs at Midnight (Heather Helpern I think, two authors wrote this though) Soooo good.
    The Selection was good.
Hallowed and Unearthly by Cynthia Hand (best angel books out there, in my opinion, so far)
    Legend by Marie Lu
Some people didn't like Blood Red Road by Moira Young but I did
The Girl of Fire and Thorns by Rae Carson I really really really like this story and have preordered book 2 which I never do.
Graceling, Fire, Bitterblue by Kristin Cashore sometimes I felt like she may have had an "agenda" but all in all I really love these books.
The Fault in Our Stars by John Green. Loved. Heartwrenchingly amazing. I have two of his other books and after reading this one, I have NO IDEA why I haven't read them yet. Something I plan to remedy. His stuff is quite good.
Jane by April Lindner is a modernized retelling of Jane Eyre. I really liked this book despite the language. It wasn't excessive, I just am not a huge fan of language when I feel like it could have been left out. He is a rock star though so I suppose...
Sea by Heidi Kling, I read this book a few years ago, but if I remember rightly it is just good.
I think that's it for now. Nothing else is coming to me. Hope this helps.
