a month of craft photos

I came across a craft photo challenge from Andi that I thought I'd share with you. I tried to do one of these photo promps in January on my instagram, I didn't really make it all the way but I tried and it was fun. This one should be a lot of fun too!

I can't promise that I'll be sharing a picture every day from this here but I'm going to try. There's a flickr group you can join to show off your photos right here.

Are you going to join in with this? I'd love to see your photos as well!

January truffle

January cross stitch

I spent Sunday afternoon stitching up this cute pattern. It's part of the Desert of the Month Club that I joined this year. It's so cute, I can't wait for February's pattern!

I bought some linen to stitch this on but ended up quitting because it was way too frustrating. So, I went back to the store and bought some evenweave in mushroom to use instead. Some of my stitches aren't so nice looking, I tried to use some DMC Pearlescent Effects to add some sparkle and it's kind of a pain to work with.

diagonale progress finally!

ends in a pile

I finished the Hunger Games trilogy on Saturday and went straight to weaving in the ends of diagonale. I let the ends take over and then really took my time weaving them in. I'm so glad they're woven in now though and I can't wait to move on to the next part of this!

diagonale goodness

So much diagonal goodness! I love it more and more everytime I look at it! It's hard to get a decent picture of the whole thing but I'll figure it out soon. The strip ended up being 62.5" long! It's 95 stripes of color. Love!

diagonale

By the way, I loved The Hunger Games! It's been awhile since I've read a book that has ended how I wanted it to. I kept thinking it wasn't going to be a good ending and actually started wanting to stop just so I wouldn't be disappointed. It's the worst when a book makes you mad at the end.

hearts, hearts

hearts

Friday already? I spent my week crocheting some Valentine inspired things and nothing much else crochet-wise. These hearts are made from a pattern found in Crochet Today Jan/Feb 2010. This is an in progress shot, I won't be sharing the finished project until Valentine's Day, it is cute though!

Have a great weekend everyone, thanks for stopping by! Happy crocheting! I probably won't get much crochet done this weekend either, I started The Hunger Games. Have you read them? If you have, you probably know why I'm not doing much else!

a bag for me

purple bag

Over the weekend, I made something for myself. This was a super quick project, only taking a few hours to complete. The pattern I used was called Skipping Stone Tote, I added this to my queue as soon as it was posted!

I used yarn I had on hand, Loops & Threads Charisma in dark purple and charcoal and I used a size 6.5 hook. I had a lot of the dark purple so that's what I used as the main color but I would have used charcoal if I had more of it! I still like how the bag turned out though, it's a comfy bag to carry.

rawr!

rawr!

Here's a cute monster I made for my son! He's a big, squeezable guy. I used the pattern called Roosevelt the Monster from FreshStitches. I am a huge fan of Stacey's patterns (if you couldn't already tell)! They're always written so well and they're so easy to make. This guy took me two nights to finish, maybe 2 hours in total.

I used the same yarn that I used for the blue owl, Bernat Super Value in peacock and Vanna's Choice Baby in aqua.

I hope you all have a great weekend! I'll probably work a little bit on diagonale (lots of ends to weave in!) and make a potholder for a Valentine's Swap I joined. If you follow me on instagram, you'll probably see a lot of what I'm up to this weekend, I post a lot there now.

What's on your hooks this weekend?

a blue owl

taggie blanket for inspiration

This taggie blanket from I bought from Polka Dot Piggy Designs is what gave me the inspiration to make this blue owl! I started him and restarted him so many times, I didn't think I would ever finish. I started to really doubt my color choice and avoided finishing him. I'm glad I finally sat down this weekend to get it done because he turned out cute!

blue owl

He will be making his new home with a new cousin's baby soon. I didn't get around to making a matching blanket this time but I think the taggie blanket with the owl will make a cute set.

blue owl

To make this cutie I used Berant Super Value in peacock and Vanna's Choice Baby in aqua. You can get the pattern for this owl here at FreshStitches.

a WIP & other things

blue WIP

I planned on getting this blue owl done over the weekend but I ended up not even doing much crochet. I finally sat down to work on it today, it's almost done now. I had a rough time with this one for some reason, this is the third time I started the body, the other ones just didn't work out right. I see the light at the end of this project though!

I got an iPad this Christmas and I've been using it to look up my crochet patterns. It's much nicer to use than my printed out papers that I need to keep in order. I've also been using instagram on it! I'm finally not missing out anymore. My name is caseyplusthree if you want to follow me there, I've been having a lot of fun with it!

One last thing, I signed up for the Dessert of the Month Club by The Frosted Pumpkin Stitchery. It's a cross stitch sampler of desserts, each month you get a new pattern to stitch. I'm really excited to have a year of cuteness to cross stitch. If you want to join along, you can sign up right here, it's on sale for $10 until the 10th (tomorrow), so move quickly!

That's all I've got for today, I'll try to blog more regularly again!

new year, new project

diagonale

I've started a new project for the new year! The pattern I'm using can be found here. I once attempted the box stitch but I couldn't get the hang of it. This time, it's stuck and it's such a fun pattern to work up, I'm having a hard time putting my hook down! But, I must keep on top of those ends!

diagonale

For this blanket, I'm using up as much of my Loops & Threads Impeccable Solids stash as I can. To get a decent size, I may have to buy more eventually to help it grow. I'm planning on having this blanket on the go for a good few months. I can't wait until it grows more, so I can really show you why I'm so excited about this one!

2012 goals

Happy 2012! I'm still wondering what happened to 2011, it went by so fast. I don't really do big resolutions for the new year, I know myself and I know that I'd break them pretty fast. But, I do try to make some goals for myself. I have a few crafty ones this year

1. Open my shop.
2. Learn to knook.
3. Knit (or knook) a few washcloths.
4. Crochet something using thread.

Not too many goals this year, I want to slow down just a bit, I feel like I crocheted a crazy amount last year! I want to slow down and enjoy what I'm doing more. Opening a shop is a big goal for me this year, I have lots to list already but need to get everything organized for the shop. I'm hoping by the end of February or early March.

Did you make resolutions or goals for the new year? I'd love to hear what you have planned for 2012!
