reading in 2011

This year at goodreads, I entered the reading challenge, I challenged myself to read 30 books. As of yesterday, I have finished 30 books! You can see all the books I read in 2011 right here. My favorites this year were The Birth House, Still Alice, Something Borrowed, The Mortal Instruments series, and the one I just finished last night in a few hours, If I Stay.

I plan to read quite a few books this upcoming year too, maybe not challenge myself to as many though. I received a few books for Christmas, so I've got a good start for the year. And I also got an iPad, so I'm downloading books through iBooks.

As for my crochet right now,
inspiration

I started another crochet project, I bought that tag blanket from a craft show (polka dot piggy designs) earlier this month and am making a toy to go along with it. I think I found some good matching blues, I'm hoping it will be a cute set for a new baby born the other day.

I hope everyone has a happy and safe New Year!

Don't forget to check out my crochet of 2011 wrap up post!

  5. Yikes! I haven't finished the books I started two summers ago. They are still on my bedside table just waiting. I like how your little snowmen ornaments turned out. I made one but tried to embroider it and it wasn't working out. I think I might just be able to manage eyes only. Love your babette. Wishing you and yours health and happiness in the new year. Tammy

  10. Hi Cassey
Here is a thought if reading gets in your crocheting way!!! I also have a reading challenge, but decided that reading was a waste of time, if you read you can only read and not do something else at the same time. But then it came to me! My husband bought me a Ipod touch and now I download audio books. It is wonderful! Now I can crochet and "read" books at the same time, I have crochet three blankets of a good size in the six months since I received this marvelous tool and I have listened to all 3 Stieg Larson books (loved them). I also caught up on my childhood "reading" and listened to all the Ann of Green Gables, they were free downloads to name but a few. I'm loving it. Love Nikki

  11. I love Goodreads! It's so nice to look back and see all the books I've read over the years. If you enjoyed Still Alice, you might also like Left Neglected by the same author.

    Happy New Year!

  12. Hi again, an update from my previous comment, I've set myself a challenge to read 50 (eek) books this year and I've blogged about it here http://thebloomingtimes.blogspot.com/2012/01/goodreads-2012-reading-challenge.html with thanks and all that within the blog to you as I wouldn't have found the site without you. Thanks again.
