my creative space

I went and joined two new CAL's on ravelry yesterday. The first one is the One a Day CAL group, you pick a project and then do one element of it a day, like a granny square a day. I have been drooling over the beekeeper's quilt since it was first posted and I'm not the only one, there are many, many people making this blanket! It's a gorgeous blanket but I'm not exactly a great knitter so I wanted to figure out a crochet version. Luckily, I don't have to try and figure it out because I found a pattern to use, it's called the apiary puff (it's a ravelry download, so you may have to be a member to get it!).

Last night I printed it out, pulled out a skein of Bernat Mosaic yarn (ambrosia) and got to work using my 3.75 hook. I bought a couple skeins of this yarn when I spotted it on clearance, I bought it thinking I would make a big granny square blanket (inspired by this one) but have decided it will be good for hexi-puffs! I cheated and made two last night but they aren't stuffed yet, so it's not a big cheat!

hexi-puffing!

I also joined a CAL to make an amigurumi unicorn, I can't wait to get started on this cutie! I may end up making two so both my girls have their own and there won't be any fighting (hopefully).

  4. Oh my goodness...this is the first I've seen of the Beekeeper (I know, where have I been???) and I am just gone gone gone. I love it, oh my gosh, I adore it. Adore! I do prefer the crochet version, which seems tidier. Oh wow, there goes my weekend. Don't you love it when that happens? :)

  10. Ok...I really love the beekeeper's quilt and am not so crazy about the apiary puff (I think it's really the choice of colors of yarn), but am like you, I can knit, but am better at crocheting. I love "on the go" projects! And that unicorn is very sweet. I look forward to seeing yours!
